yaaay today's Ville's B Day and I was already a good girl getting up at 12am baking a cake haha XD(u should know that I was out ALL night long lol) unfortunately my cakie turned out to look QUITE weird but hopefully he won't taste too bad XDDD

â�œEmotional things are one of the very few on our world which we canâ�™t control. And thatâ�™s what I write aboutâ�¦ all this emotional shit.â� No, HIMâ�™s singer Ville Valo doesnâ�™t see things that negative; leans back in his chair in a hotel in Hamburg, smiles and adds: â�œOf course itâ�™s not always only shit, but the topic is interesting cause itâ�™s the only chaotic creative power â�“ our base for everything else.â� Here again an interview with Ville about Venus Doom and â�œsuicideâ�.

Rockoon: Heavy songs and dark lyrics â�“ the result of a hard time you had to get through?

Ville: I had a really fucked year; Then again it was really great, cause all these unbeautiful things left its mark on the music. The sound was so dark and melancholic that I was able to write everything down in the lyrics cause it simply matched the music.

R: Kiss Of Dawn is a song about a friend of you, who committed suicideâ�¦

V: Yes, but itâ�™s not a song about suicide, itâ�™s more about to lose a friend â�“ not necessarily cause of death. Itâ�™s a kind of song to say goodbye. You try to put forth your hand to reach someone, whoâ�™s unreachable. Some relationships are the same: When love dies and you donâ�™t know how to go on.

R: We already talked about that topic before: What do you personally think about suicide â�“ the last chance to escape life, if you canâ�™t stand it anymore, or is it our of question for you?

V: To me it never is or was an option. But like Nietzsche said: â�œThe thought of suicide is a good way to comfort: you can easily get through a bad night with it.â� Itâ�™s about to have the possibilityâ�¦

R: Did you write the song to get over with suicide , or to write something special FOR somebody whoâ�™s not there anymore?

V: Definitely the latter: Itâ�™s a song FOR somebody, though heâ�™ll never hear it â�“ at least, if you believe like me that thereâ�™s no life after death. He was a very important person in my life, and I was sad. Itâ�™s about, how I see it that heâ�™s gone, and how to handle a loss. I simply think itâ�™s great, that I had the chance to knew such a wonderful person. Iâ�™m also one of these, who laugh at funerals, cause I remember all the good things. Death makes a lot of people sad, cause THEY lose something, cause THEY canâ�™t have anything â�“ somethingâ�™s not under their control. A lot of people are like that.

R: And you not?

V: Sometimes I am. People are possessive and want to decide what happens and what doesnâ�™t. You shouldnâ�™t ruin your own life just because one of your loved ones died. I mean, you should be happy that youâ�™ve shared a part of your life with a wonderful person. I try to see things positive, cause plenty of bad stuff happens. There are a lot of things where u can weep about, and of course you can be sad sometimes. The song is kind of sad and melancholic, but not dark, and thereâ�™s hope in it.

R: Back to the Album and with it to the song â�“ and accordingly title track Venus Doom. Do you reference to the roman goddess of love, which takes various parts and so Venus Doom is one of them?

V: Yeah kinda. Itâ�™s about vitation and love. â�œVenus Doomâ� for me is something like a figure â�“ like Kali, the Indian goddess of destruction and death and also regeneration. Love destroys something in you when it starts, and the same when it leaves again.

R: Thereâ�™s a quote of Hermann Hesseâ�™s book Demian: â�œWho wants to be born, has to destroy a world.â� So, thatâ�™s whatâ�™s love and life is like for you?

V: No, thatâ�™s what I am for love. Iâ�™ve open arms. The track Venus Doom is kind of a lovesong to love itself. You can light the dark if you leave your arms and eyes open and let it in, but you have to be careful, cause it destroys your dreams and changes you and the world around you. You donâ�™t know where itâ�™ll take you, and naturally it brings you to emotional, intellectual and bodily destroying â�“ sooner or later. You feel so gravitated of somebody, it can fuck up your life. It simply drags you away and you canâ�™t do anything against it, you just always want more, even when it hurts. Though itâ�™s fascinatingâ�¦ and this topic is worth a lot of songs.

R: Letâ�™s take a step forward: Your guitar player Mikko LindstrÃ¶m also known as Linde always has to say goodbye to his little child when he goes on tour â�“ would you also like to have a little being, which keeps you away from sleep?

V: I canâ�™t sleep anyway. Itâ�™s something like a daydream â�“ yeah, it would be nice in a way. If it happens, it happens, but Iâ�™m happy that this wasnâ�™t the matter so far, cause I simply donâ�™t have the chance to stay at home a lot. It would be a pretty hard job for the womanâ�¦ or, if I marry a man and we get the chance to adopt a child, it would be hard for him, and I donâ�™t want to that to somebody. Iâ�™m 30 now and I still donâ�™t know where the band is going. I canâ�™t say if weâ�™ll be very successful in five years, if weâ�™ll still exist or not. If I fall in love with somebody, and we have a great time and decide to have a kid, then thatâ�™s it and you live on with that decision. You canâ�™t give away a kid that easily â�“ or well, you can. And Iâ�™ll give mine to Angelina Jolie then!

Rockoon interview with Ville Valo (NEW)

â�žSuicide is always an option. Not the best, more the worst, but itâ�™s good to have it. â�œ

â�œWould you care for another cup of coffee? I also have some more French toasts for you.â� Again a fresh smell of coffee came through the comfortable darkened breakfast lounge of the Hyatt West Hollywood at the Sunset Boulevard and mixed with the wonderful scent of the warm toast, while soft music filled the comfortable rooms and created an ambiance which actually didnâ�™t match a Rockâ�™nâ�™Roll hotel. And though we were in that special hotel in Los Angeles, in which already Jim Morrison, Led Zeppelin and The Who did some legendary parties. Televisions flew through windows, motorbikes drove through the lobby and even some songs got written here. But today it was pretty quiet in those legendary halls and excitement was only found by the attendant music-journalists who specially came from Germany to listen to the successful Finnish band HIMâ�™s new album in the afternoon.

Punctually at 2.00pm â�œHIM â�“ mommyâ� Silke Yli-SirniÃ¶ congregated everybody in the lobby to go to the Paramount Studios in Hollywood. Pretty unimpressive from the outside and actually only identifiable with a sign from the Paramount Studios parking lot theyâ�™ve been found to be very impressive and roomy in the inside. Some gold and platinum records decorated the walls from the reception area to the recording rooms in the back part which are only lighted by dimmed light and candles, where HIM-Manager Seppo Vesterinen, Producer Tim Palmer and of course HIM-leader Ville Valo were already waiting to present the finally completed masterpiece.

Quickly some chairs were put for the journalists and manager Seppo already ran busily through the rooms, while Ville got â�“ anxious waiting for their opinionsâ�“ to the with a glass pane shielded recording room and Tim happy and proudly presented the new songs. Songs like Bleed Well and the acoustic Song Or Suicide sounded, while Venus Doom, Dead Loverâ�™s Lane and Passionâ�™s Killing Floor rocked the studio so Tim couldnâ�™t help himself playing the air guitar and in the next moment already rock on with the non existent drums or write down the song titles so everybody got the right track list in their notes. Arduously first impressions got written down, which seemed in view of the diversity of the songs almost kind of back braking. After an hour there was only one thing with which everyone agreed: Venus Doom is a damn rocking record, whichâ�™s success seems to be preassigned.

Not only Tim Palmer seemed to be happy with the first reacts, also Ville, who already wanted the HIM-mommy to finally tell him what they think about the new album. A little bit tired from the party of last night but obviously relaxed he also was with the interview:

Ville Valo: Thank you very much for taking some time to get here.

Rockoon: My pleasure! Although the flight was really hard, cause I donâ�™t really like flying.

VV: Oh, I hate it too! Iâ�™m always afraid of it. Mostly I take some anodynes and try to sleep. We actually have to fly all the time. The rest of the band loves the flying. They always call â�œnow weâ�™re crashing!!â� and I:â�AAaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!â� Not very calmative.

Rockoon: So itâ�™s good that you flew alone this time. How long have u been in LA now?

VV: Iâ�™m here for like one and a half week and Iâ�™ll stay a few more weeks. Tim and I mixed the album here. He actually even started to before I arrived here. But we know each other already pretty good so it doesnâ�™t take a lot of words between us. It gets changed a bit here and there but then itâ�™s exactly the way we want it.

Rockoon: But the album got recorded with Tim and Hiili Hiilesmaa in Helsinki, right?

VV: Yeah, in Helsinki.

Rockoon: Was Tim in Helsinki for the first time so you could show him a little bit of the city?

VV: Oh no, he already was there a couple of times. But this time it was like, I slept and he partied. We also recorded the album when we were all together. We wanted the album just to be finished and the last time it was pretty stressful because the whole traveling costed a lot of time and energy. And it wasnâ�™t really easy this time anyway because Burton, our keyboarder, also got a baby.

Rockoon: oh really? Iâ�™m sure thatâ�™s exciting for him.

VV: yeah. Although I havenâ�™t even seen it yet. But theyâ�™re very happy. I mean, it was born in October.

Rockoon: The baby got born in October and you still havenâ�™t seen it?

VV: well yeah, we all work out very well and we like each other a lot but you have to keep something private for yourself. We spend a lot of time together, like, in the studio, in the bus, when weâ�™re on tourâ�¦ I think I havenâ�™t seen Olivia â�“ the daughter of our guitarist Linde â�“ for almost a year. It happens. When you have your break, you have your break. Then you donâ�™t think of the band anymore and you need some time for yourself. Well at least we try to take some time for us.

Rockoon: Tell us something about the new album. The title, Venus Doom, is it something like an advancement of Love Metal? Venus is the goddess of Love and Doom could describe the way to heavier and darker sounds. Is it like this or more like a word game?

VV: Itâ�™s not an advancement of Love Metal. Is has to do with demolition and is a bit like the Kali-symbolism. Kali is the more-armed goddess of the Indian mythology and means demolition but also regeneration. Something has to be destroyed, so new things can be created. Thatâ�™s what love means to me.

Rockoon: And what does love exactly mean to you?

VV: It kills you. It rips your soul. And youâ�™re going to be reborn if you love again.

Rockoon: Interesting thought which could be also taken for other subjects. Like the aspects of your older albums, which almost have something destructive or at least donâ�™t sound that complaisant like at the time they were created. For example, you said after the release of Dark Light, that this kind of music is exactly what you always wanted, and after recording Venus Doom you said, that there were too many things happening on Dark Light.

VV: Probably almost every musician says something like this, right? Itâ�™s like you just found the perfect trousers or the perfect woman. So you shouldnâ�™t misunderstand it. Iâ�™m still very satisfied with Dark Light, just like with the albums before.

Rockoon: So itâ�™s perfect in the moment of creating, because itâ�™s exactly what youâ�™re feeling at that time.

VV: Thatâ�™s the way you could word it. We always give our best and cause of that we always want more. Itâ�™s very important to advance.

Rockoon: You said that Venus Doom is a lot more heavy and darker, and thatâ�™s true. What was the reason for choosing this direction?

VV: Heavy music is fun! I also had some hard times privately and so you can hear it on the songs. Private is of course relative, cause I donâ�™t really have a private life in its actual meaning. I write about personal emotions in our lyrics and so already tell them to public for years.

Rockoon: What do you do to improve you musically? For example, the singing or the guitar playing?

VV: Actually we donâ�™t really think about that.

Rockoon: So you just play and sing?

VV: Well, youâ�™re always trying some new things. Iâ�™ve never sung as deep as on the new album. My voice isnâ�™t like Robert Plantâ�™s [Led Zeppelin]. Itâ�™s as deep as Peter Steeleâ�™s from Type O Negative. But he didnâ�™t sing so deep anymore for quite a while, so, Iâ�™ll probably beat him in that now (laughs). Heâ�™s actually one of my idols. I love his voice and so Iâ�™m trying to advance my own voice. And I think thatâ�™s also the way you should work and live your life â�“ as good as possible and always trying to reach the best possible.

Rockoon: Tim told about that the acoustic Song Or Suicide was recorded in a hotel room.

VV: Thatâ�™s right. Song Or Suicide is probably the saddest song Iâ�™ve ever written. The recordings werenâ�™t easy too, because the transport and the buildup of the equipment we needed took a lot of time. We recorded it in the hotel in which Iâ�™m currently in, just at the Sunset Boulevard. John Belushi died there, Neil Young recorded there and also Anthony Keates sang his song parts there. Itâ�™s a hot place, but it really got an impressive pastâ�¦

Rockoon: I heard that Kiss Of Dawn is dedicated to a friend.

VV: Yes it is. He hung himself.

Rockoon: Oh. I think thatâ�™s nothing of which you like to talk about.

VV: Thatâ�™s no problem. What the hell is death? He was a very good friend of mine, a very talented young fellow, with which I passed some beautiful times. One day his girlfriend called me and told me that heâ�™s dead. Things like that unfortunately happen. It was his decision and I hope it was the right for him.

Rockoon: What do you personally think about suicide? Is it really an option?

VV: Suicide is always an option. Not the best, more the worst, but itâ�™s good to have it. But itâ�™s surely nothing, of which Iâ�™m considering right now.

Rockoon: fortunately! And there isnâ�™t - at least not for public â�“ a reason for it visible. What about the cooperation with your new Label? A good and especially personal teamwork seems to be very important for you. Did you find this for you?

VV: Absolutely. We signed in by Sire Records in New York. A small label that also got The Ramones, Madonna and Depeche Mode, latter for America, under contract. Itâ�™s working pretty good, cause weâ�™re working with people with which we get along very good. Itâ�™s a small label within a big one, so everything goes on very personal.

Rockoon: You also created a label by yourself. Did you already get some bands signed for Heartagram records so far?

VV: No, not yet. Weâ�™d really like to do that and we already talked with a few bands, but not more. We donâ�™t really have enough time and probably also not the required know-how to coach the bands so far. I think weâ�™re not really ready for that now.

Rockoon: Do you already have some special requirements for these bands?

VV: Not really. Itâ�™s more about friends and music. Also the music direction, although weâ�™ll probably work more in the area of Rock, doesnâ�™t really matter.

Rockoon: A totally different question. How would you explain, that lots of singers, which say theyâ�™re actually shy, to which you count as well, seem to search for the midpoint, cause theyâ�™re regularly doing gigs in front of a huge audience?

VV: Hm... Thatâ�™s a hard question. I canâ�™t tell you because I donâ�™t have an explanation as well. What I know is that I love to write music. Thatâ�™s what I really like, also at home for myself. Itâ�™s a bit like writing a diary.

Rockoon: Finally, do have a good suggestion for a place to go out here in LA?

VV: Oh, well you should go to the Rainbow. Thatâ�™s the legendary bar directly at the Sunset Boulevard, in which also Lemmy [MotÃ¶rhead] hangs out all the time. He even got his own Flipper there. So, itâ�™s really worth going there!

Ok, the third time now that I write here what's happening in my life right now. First of all, I'm really sorry for not beeing on for such a long time :( I miss you all, and I miss posting my stuff :(

Everything's so fucked the last time. Since my b day I'm studying without a break. Even in school. I don't even get what the teacher say only cause I study for other subjects. GOD. I HATE studying as some of u know. It's HORRIBLE. : (

On friday I have my final maths test. If I fail it, I have to repeat the WHOLE class!

On monday I have my final chemistry test. I have to prepare 86 questions! 86! why the fuck do I have to prepare ALL THOSE questions, if he only picks 10 out of them which I have to answer in my test??!!!!!!

On Wednesday I have my final test in accountancy. ACCOUNTANCY. I HATE IT. I have to get a C in that goddamn test. naaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhh....

and the following week.....:

Monday: final informatics test.... I need a C in this test.. : I

again on monday: German test.

Thursday: little businessmanagement test.

yep, I AM complaining about everything right now. But I'm just so damn scared cause of the Maths,Chemistry, and accountancy test.

well I don't care if you steal a pic from me and post it into your gallery and give credits [that's what I do..] or whatever. But it's pissing me off to see my pic posted again in the goddamn same forum right 1 page after I posted mine >.<

what I want to say is... there are a LOT of pics posted twice or more often, some by accident and some cause they got stolen. Why???? Do you want some buzzes for it??? or comments??????? It's not a contest here like 'who got the most buzzes' or whatever, but some people really seem to think that.
I don't want to act like a total bitch but it's really annoying. For my part, I search a lot for pics. And I can say I never took one from another user and posted it in my gallery. Least of all not in big forums like HIMTour or whatever... I think it's simply unfair then to steal pics and post it there again[RIGHT ONTO THE NEXT PAGE....GOD] .

I'm sorry all that may sound bitchy, but that's my opinion.
